Celebrate a Fantastic 2013 – Captain Ivory Style

Well folks, we are nearing the end of 2013 — a year for us that has gone by at a breakneck pace filled with some of the best experiences to-date. We’re pleased to have made so many new friends around the midwest, all of whom share our interest of keeping loud, in your face, soulful rock n’ roll alive. In the spirit of this ongoing pursuit, we’re throwing a big End of Year Bash on December 6th, 2013 in our hometown of Ypsilanti, MI at the illustrious Woodruff’s Pub.

The Story

It’s been awhile since we’ve played a hometown show, mainly because we want to deliver the biggest night of music we can to the hometown crowd. This event is no different. In addition to bringing out some talented local friends of ours, Anna Lee’s Co., we’re also introducing a bit of the Indianapolis music scene to Ypsilanti with Hero Jr. coming to town. These guys are the biggest band in Indy at the moment, and had the pleasure of opening for Tom Petty earlier this year. We just joined them on a sold out show in Indy less than a month ago, and were blown away. Trust us when we say, you need to be here for this.

The Promo

Us telling you how great the show will be can only do so much…so let us SHOW YOU. Here’s a little promo we put together with a little Captain Ivory-style humor thrown in for good measure. Yeah, we lit Justin’s drums on fire:

Indianapolis: Just Gets Better & Better

We’ve been steadily increasing our touring farther and farther outside of Michigan over the past year or so of the band’s existance, and no city has yet to top the amount of support we’ve received from the people of Indianapolis, IN. The music community in the city is alive, growing, and incredibly supportive of both local and out of town bands, and the people are just downright fun to be around. We continue to raise the bar with every return trip to Indy, and our November 1st show is no different.

We return to one of the coolest venues in the city, Radio Radio, to support possibly the biggest band coming out of Indy right now — Hero Jr. Not only are these guys wicked musicians, but like so many other folks in the area, they’re also great people. We’ve yet to meet them in person, but can already tell it will be an unforgettable night, and the start of a long working relationship with yet another awesome band.

Here’s the details for Friday, November 1st:

Excited to say we were a part of the first sold out show we’ve played in Indianapolis! Thanks to Hero Jr., the Hawkeyes, the Radio Radio, and the great people of Indianapolis for welcoming us with open arms and making this event an unforgettable night. We’ll see you soon!

Cincinnati or Bust!

We had a lot of time to ponder and crack dirty jokes in the van a few weeks ago as we crept home from our show in Ludington, MI…at 35mph with a broken transmission. We tried everything in the book to get the van to run right, including sweet talking her, and asking where she wanted to venture to next. Turns out she agreed to start running better, only if we promised to take her to Cincinnati in October. So that’s exactly what we’re going to do!

On Friday, October 18th we make our maiden voyage to  Cincinnati, OH/Newport, KY for a rip roarin’ night of music at the Thompson House…named after it’s original owner, John Thompson, who would later go on to invent the THOMPSON MACHINE GUN. And now we’re playing a rock show at his mansion. Who knows…we stopped asking questions a long time ago.  Read more about the venue history HERE.

The kind folks over there have agreed to let us headline the evening, and we have a full hour and a half of music ready to get your weekend started on the right note. Tickets are $10 and can be bought ahead of time at this link. Here’s the schedule for the evening:

8:00-8:30       5-thirteen
8:45-9:15       SpearPoint
9:30-10:00    Tangled Luck
10:15-11:00  To No End
11:15-12:45  Captain Ivory

As always, find us on Facebook for the most up to date information. We’ll see you soon!
